Hello

Welcome to the Bowlish Infant School website. We hope that you will enjoy finding out about our school. If you are looking for a school place for your child, we currently have a small number of places in each year group. Please contact the school on 01749 342514 or via our Contact page to arrange a visit and we will be more than happy to show you around the school. We are able to offer 'in year' places ourselves and can support you through this process.

Bowlish Infant School is a small, friendly community school. We can take up to 117 children aged between 4 and 7 years. The school opened in July 1869 to educate the children in the mill communities of Bowlish and Darshill and has a long history of involvement in the local community. Although established as a church school it is no longer affiliated to a particular religious body, but remains true to its original spirit of caring for and supporting children and their families. We work as a team of parents, staff and governors to provide the very best learning experience for all the children that come here.

Over the years the school has been extended, decorated and resourced to a high standard. The buildings comprise of four classrooms, a library, hall, staffroom, quiet room, kitchen and the school offices. Each classroom has computers and an interactive whiteboard.

The three year groups are spread between four classes:

  • A pure Reception class.
  • A mixed Reception and Year 1 class.
  • A mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class.
  • A pure Year 2 class.
  • The classes are named after birds. Our experienced team of staff attend a range of training courses during the school year and are committed to ensuring that their practice is effective in supporting children to learn well and make good progress.
